FAQ
To adjust the video settings of the web camera, MonitorCam provides the Video Settings and Video Properties buttons. By default, MonitorCam will start video capture at either a resolution of 640x480 (when first run) or the last used settings.
Apart from the resolution and frame rate, normal web cameras have many other settings and properties that can be adjusted, such as: brightness, contrast, gamma, etc.

Video settings

Changing some of the settings like the video resolution and frame rate will necessitate a restart of the camera connection. Hence if motion detection is running, this will be stopped and restarted once the new camera settings take effect.

Please note that some settings that allow the web camera to automatically adjust itself, like automatic gain control or auto focus, may produce false alarms, especially if the camera is viewing a scene that is prone to sudden illumination changes, etc. In such cases, it may be required to switch these settings off.
